100% Natural…

I have been trying to eat and drink better lately… So I picked up some 7Up this past trip to the store to help curb my Soda/Caffeine Addiction… I have been seeing the commercials claiming it is “Now 100% Natural” — So I figured it’s be a good gateway Soda to curb my addiction.. So, What does 100% Natural Get you these days?
- 140 Calories
- 39g of Carbs
- High Fructose Corn Syrup
- Natural Citric Acid
- Natural Potassium Citrate
- Filtered Water
- Contains No Juice
I was a bit confused about how this could be considered all natural, so I asked Wikipedia.. And it gave me an answer…
Labeling as “natural”
In May 2006, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) threatened to file a lawsuit against Cadbury Schweppes for labeling 7 Up as “All Natural”, despite containing high fructose corn syrup. While the FDA has no definition of “natural”, CSPI claims that HFCS is not a “natural” ingredient due to the high level of processing and the use of at least one genetically modified (GMO) enzyme required to produce it.[21] In May 2007, Cadbury Schweppes was still calling 7 Up “All Natural”.[22]
Snapple (another Cadbury-Schweppes brand) is well-known for being “all-natural,” but most varieties contain HFCS.
