My Week With Florida’s Nature
I have had a hell of a week experiencing ‘Nature’ in Florida. I sorta forgot that we have so much to offer here, and we continue to pave over it. It’s really kinda sad.
I saw my first wild Florida black bear. Yup, Florida has Bears. Her and her cubs were just chilling my buddy Steve’s back yard. It was really unreal.
I started fishing again. I have been Hobbyless for the last 3-4 months, and I could tell that it was starting to get to me. So, I dusted off my ol’ rod and reel and hit the lake out in front of my house. Last night I caught 8 Bass in less than an hour ranging from 2-5lbs. These fish are really healthy and strong — and a blast on Light Tackle. I’m going to give this lake a rest for a few days — And check out a secret spot in Avalon tonight. Muhahah!
I got busted for fishing without a license. Yup. I thought in Florida you only needed a License to fish from a boat, not from land… This is only true for Saltwater… (This is an old Tourist Law, and after thinking about it, it needs to be changed) — Mad Props to the Florida Fish and Wildlife guys out patrolling and checking. After seeing how well they are keeping my local lakes I’m more than happy to give them my 12$. In fact, if you have an extra 12$ laying around, head over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website and pick up a fishing license. The money goes right back into protecting out wildlife.
So, if anyone wants to go fishing, drop me an email… I’m looking to do some light tackle inshore fishing this weekend.
