Orlando IKEA

Well, I found the Orlando IKEA this weekend. This is a shot of it from my Blackberry Curve from outside Bloomingdale’s.

Apparently IKEA’s are a big deal, since there are rumors of people camping out for a few days for it’s opening… I just can not believe the size of this store. It’s absolutely Huge.

Opening Details: November 12th, 2007 at 9:00am Link.

Zappos just earned my business.

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Alex just posted a link to this story about a “above and beyond” customer service experience someone had buying shoes from Zappos (An online shoe retailer).

I do however, really hope this post doesn’t ruin it with people trying to take advantage of Zappos. Regardless, I’m going to take a look today — It might be time for me to get a new pair of flops. I’m just really happy to see a company that finally cares about their customers…

In case you do decide to order some shoes here is a coupon link: Zappos Coupons

Home Depot Goes Social…

Home Depot Going Social
<Click for Full Res Original>

Dear Home Depot.. You might as well add MySpace and Facebook widgets to your site. I’m not sure why you stopped at Slashdot. If the nerds of the Internet would like to read about a Laminate Sale, why wouldn’t thirteen year old girls and sexual deviants? Or is their money no good to you?

This is more proof of the absolute flawed model of (and eminent fall) of social networking/linking sites. The simple absolute misunderstanding of their use is being jaded by the traffic success stories many sites have had. Think about it, why the hell would anyone EVER Digg or Slashdot laminate flooring — or anything at home depot for that matter — is way beyond me. (Note: I do understand the Google Bookmarks and Yahoo My web links. Those could definitely be useful for the consumer.)

I stopped using most of those sites a while ago — And I think I finally understand why. The power of the community has been advertised to the power of corporations. I’m sure it is flattering to these sites that someone like Home Depot would add them, but anyone that uses them to socialize “laminate flooring” is really just pooping in the pool that was once the useful creative Internet.

Post Season Offically Started!!!!

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

The MLB Post Season is officially started. TBS HD looks pretty good — TBS HD is in 1080i — Which is odd since TBS is mostly Sports and Re-Runs which would benefit from 720p… *shrug*

Whats weird/neat is I noticed they Upscale all the Commercials and Shows. I wonder if this is what we can expect in the future for re-runs. *shrug*

The Fight’n Phils!

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Holy Crap.. What just happened…

Not only did the Phillies make the playoffs, They won their division.

After what might go down as the craziest month in the history of the National League - After a 162 games, there was literally a Historical Team Meltdown (Mets) and a Three way tie (Phillies, Padres, Rockies) Which was concluded with one of the craziest and controversial tie-breaker games ever played.

So how did the Phillies do it? After a season of Injuries to all of it’s key players, and a pitching staff that has questionably been infected with the bubonic plague the Phillies showed two things:

1. They Have Depth and Options: Coaches would kill to have players like Dobbs, Werth, Victorino, Iguchi, and Bourn to switch in and out of the game at will (all batting above .270). Many of these players have been overlooked during the season — But each one has seen plenty of playing time (due to all the injuries), and have come up with HUGE hits when the Phils needed it the most.

2. They love the game: The Phillies really do love the game. Early on, they realized that in order to win games, they needed huge leads for their bullpen. Their bullpen let them down so many times, but the Phils players shrugged it off and went out the next night fighting. Regardless, the Phillies are a Team with nothing to loose. And those are the most dangerous teams. Teams like the Yankees and Red Sox win because they are expected to win. If they don’t, the media and fans rip them apart — Pretty much Playing out of fear.

Proof they love the game: This Video shows a game in Colorado earlier in the year where the whole Philly team runs out to help the ground crew as a horrible storm rolls into Colorado. Only 1 Rockies player comes out to help, while the Phillies have $84,000,000 worth of talent on the field — Just having a Good time.
